The Board for Contractors for the Commonwealth of Virginia is conducting public hearings on a proposal to eliminate the CEU requirement for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Fuel Gas License holders.

Jack Bartell, Director of Service & Training for Virginia Air Distributors, attended 1 of the 4 public meetings where interested parties can provide input to the board.  Jack argued against this proposal, instead advocating an increase to the number of CEU’s required.

Virginia Air believes very strongly that an educated license holder is better equipped to apply and install HVAC products in a manner that meets or exceeds code requirements, with the end result being safer, healthier homes and equipment that runs for the full life cycle expectation.

While Virginia Air was the only HVAC distributor present at this meeting, there were more than two dozen people who spoke.

There was complete and unanimous support by every speaker to continue and strengthen Virginia CEU requirements for license holders.
